Misc Info:
Confirmed spies, a merchant from Rashidi has confirmed that informants from Ventura di Shaul are indeed in the city. His own life at risk as he could name a few if he saw them due to past history with the Ventura company in other cities.

There was a little rain today, forcing a few off the streets. This meant good business for the lunch crowd at the Porta del Sol Inn. The cook had landed a number of small game hens that have been prepared, with a slight honey glaze over them. This is part of the draw. Despite rain and good food, some tables still remain of course. Of the occupied tables, one includes a Kataroan merchant, identified easily by his garb. As a trader, this is certainly the best place for him to stay. Among other visitors to the fair city. Yet, despite his presumed business of being a trader, there is no one currently discussing business with him. Not yet at least, a man that looks local enough enters, glances about quietly, spots the man and comes over. The two start to engage in quiet conversation.

Joana is still rather new to the city, and slightly out of place in ill-fitting, modest fashions of Pomesa rather than the most glamarous attire of Matora. Out of place in a tavern, the lady brushes past the trader quickly — if she ever noticed him — and is comfortable to make her way to a little nook in a parlour for the upper classes, content to entertain herself by taking a peek at her pocket-tome and to remove herself from the affairs of others.

*

Having the advantage of already being present when the two start to meet up, Arabella glances up from her meal of the hen and some vegetables to glance over anyone new that arrives in the room. It's just a passing interest in the two, but she is near enough, with the fuller room, to over hear. Not that she's suspicious or anything to even try and do that. She is more involved in planning more for the nights event.

*

While it is a curious meeting, more so by their hushed tones, it is hard to hear any details at this point. The local man does seem to favor a cap or cloak it can be noted. Such that he is more bundled than just wearing a fashion accessory. This may lend more to the curiousity of the affair at that table. At one point the Kataroan does say slightly more loudly, "You should not have come here." The covered man shakes his head, says something in a low voice, but is pushing off the table. Enough to move his chair, as if ready to stand. "Suit yourself," the local finally says, as his hands shift beneath the table.

The two men don't get any sort of rise out of Joana as they speak; and she does not even make a fuss over seeing her cousin when Arabella enters, instead reading with a goblet of water to go along with it. The Pomesan is indeed fully ignorant of her surroundings.

*

Oblivious to any undertones of subterfuge, it is still with only a vague interest that Arabella passes her gaze over the two, and any other patrons in the Inn. Catching sight of Joana she offers a smile her way, but tucked away as she is, she doesn't interrupt or intrude. Instead, her attention goes immediately back to the table as the voices rise and of course it captures her interest. The remainder of her meal goes untouched as she does try and actively listen and watch now.

*

The two seem to argue quietly for the moment, not attracting any more attention than an occasional look from others in the establishment. Then there is a shuffle at their table. A quick mostion and the covered man is rising and moving quickly for the door. The merchant is left wide eyed, glancing about half a moment. This gives the covered man time to walk towards the door. When he's halfway there, the merchant calls out, "Help," loud, a little shaken, then he stands, clasping his abdomen, "Help, I've been stabbed." Convenient, luck, there is presently on member of the Wyvern Company 'off duty' in the tavern.

If a common reaction is to hurry over to the man; well, it wouldn't be the first time that Joana got the reputation of being a little unconventional and peculiar in how she reacts. The woman does rise from her corner — and shrugs off returning a smile to Arabella as she just waits there for the situation to unfold. Hardly the a valorous soul or a physician, she does know just a bit of anatomy from her studies but hardly anything to be of practical use.

Though she was watching, her attention had drifted again and when she finally hears the man state that he is stabbed, it takes her a moment to realize it was literal and he was bleeding. A soft gasp, "This man needs help." She calls over to the Wyvern mercenary, but doesn't immediately see the man who would be suspect due to other customers being in the way. "Who was he? Why did he stab you?" She has to ask in case the man dies.

*

Much as Arabella drifted off a little, the off-duty member of the city guard looks up at the call. He rises and looks to the man calling for help, doing his duty to move over. "We need to get you to a physician," he is saying, going to help support the man at least. "Who saw what happened," he demands while trying to assist the merchant. The merchant gasps a moment, even as the door opens and the other man slips out in the moment. He manages to raise a finger, sort of looking in the direction of Arabella, "He's on contract with Cavalieri Imigla … the Ventura di Shaul." The guard is slowly hleping the man, "What, who now? Where is this man?!" He is glancing at the others, hopefully someone saw something.

Joana, evidently, does not. But perhaps that's not too much of her surprise in her experience as a commoner. She is quite a shy person and it's clear that she doesn't want to attract any attention to herself at all in the chaos that is in the tavern, she just looks to Arabella to see if her similarly-shocked cousin knows any more.

*

"He just went out the door, his table companion!" Arabella easily recognizes the man since she had given him a look or three now and then during their discussion. Especially when the talking had gotten louder. "Just there!" She points, ratting the stabber out as he slips through the door. "Hurry!" She quickly gives his description and what he was wearing, to the guards.

Looking at the ladies nearby, he nods, "You can look after this man?" The one that was stabbed, who needs medical attention. Even as he asks, he's standing up to go. "I'll try to catch that man. I'll send more guards back here to help?" Its a question but the man turns to run after the man who just slipped out. "Stop that man!" Its called as he runs, to get more attention on the matter, hopefully grabbing and alerting other Wyvern Company on patrol as city guard.
The man who was stabbed is at a state of rolling his eyes, clutching the wound he received from being stabbed. Probably some short blade. He's less cognizant at present, beyond talking now, his help cries made as he languishes in the Inn.

*

When the guards make their way, at least - Joana cranes her neck a bit to look for the wounded man. "Aye," Joana nods at him. It would help," she starts, a little pertubed. "If someone would cover the wound to stop the bleeding." Though she's not the most experience with battle-wounds, reading up on anatomy from time to time has to help and she helps guide those other present to save the man from the brink of death, as well as teaching them how to resuscitate the man if the situation worsens.

*

"Yes, just go get the man." Arabella shoos out the guard and goes to assist Joana, kneeling down beside her, an extra pair of hands should they be needed or requested. She does lean over and cover the wound to stop the bleeding while Joana wraps him up, trying not to think of the strangers blood on her hands.

*

Outside the door, there is a commotion, which then moves away, presumably a chase is underway out there. The work on the man takes a little effort, but the flow of blood is stopped, just soon enough as the man hinged upon deaht's door. Once the blood stops and he's given a moment, he starts to come around. "I'm … alive?" He blinks around, and probably a few look towards Joana as the one who has done it. "Thank you … I need to be safe." He says, its hard with his thick voice to understand, but manageable. "They'll send more after me."

*

Joana blushes a bit — it's been out of her insatiable curiosity that she kept her cool, and now it's over it gives way to her reclusive persona, and holds herself awkwardly to shy away from the crowd's gaze. She nods at the man and plucks up the courage in the heat of the moment to ask: "And who's, 'they?'"

*

Arabella gives Joana a relieved look when she manages to save his life. Rising, she finds a cloth to wipe her hands off and looks down to the man and Joana, hoping that he can give them some answers. "Who are you?"

*

The man looks between them, letting his breath rise and fall rhythmically. A nod first to Joanna. "They are the Ventura di Shaul. They go to Vinchia to make war, but some are here. To see what Matora does, they mean to disrupt the negotiations for the Ventura contact of Matora." He speaks slowly to get the information out to them, to get all he can as briefly as he can. His eyes shift towards Arabella, "I am Banu Ayaba, a man of the courts of the Rashidi Reign. He wished to employ my men to spy as well. I want nothing of this business between Matora and Vinchia."

*

"Rashidi," Joana cocks a brow. She knows little of the business of the mercenary companies, but the neighbouring kingdoms of Santos Corta like her own Pomesa have a bit of a complicated relationship with that corner very well. She lowers her voice and just asks; "And if you want nothing of it, why do they wish to kill you?"

*

Arabella takes note of the names of the ventura as well as the mans name and the courts. Just any of the information he gives, she tries to commit it to memory. Her eyes go to the door briefly as she listens, checking to see if there was any news from the men who had given chase to the would be killer.

*

He looks between the two and responds as he can. "I have worked with them before, I know some of the men and women they have sent here to Matora. They know I can identify them." He explains readily enough, then more of a look to Joana, "Its why he came here now when they found me. To make sure I wasn't talking already to anyone in your city who would listen." A pause, "Or who would pay to hear what I have." More honesty in that latter, its not like he came here with charitable purpose to simply let the city know that there were individuals watching to see how things developed in the city itself.

*

Joana peers, "Then for your own safety, signor, I'd recommend taking the next boat to Rashidi as soon as you can. Or Navagerse or Masud; anywhere but here. I know little and less about the companies but they cannot kill you if you're out of their reach."

*

A short nod of her head has Arabella agreeing. "Consider that you have now spread the word and we are appreciative of it. We will alert the proper people, but for your own safety, you really should go to where it's safer."

*

There is a nod as he listens, "I will leave the city at once. I will find the men and women of my ship, they can help me." Because trying to move in his state might be a little more difficult. "One should be by before long, I can wait here until they arrive, and then I will be gone."

*

"Very well," Joana nods and looks to Arabella and speaks lowly. "Perhaps our house can shield you tonight, if you'd feel safer for it."

*

"I can send for my brother to assist you to your ship." Immediately, Arabella summons a kid over, a page of sorts she'd seen around before. "Run and fetch Signore Alvise di Sabastino, tell him his sister Arabella di Sabastino has sent for him and to come immediately." A nod to Joana too. "If he is not safe to travel, we can at least get him to our home. I agree." Her voice is kept quiet at that part, the fewer people who knew where he was, the better.

*

Even as Arabella sends for someone, Banu is nodding his head. "Yes, I would be greatful. One night to prepare and then I will be on my way." His eyes close a little as if that lets him relax, as much as possible all things considered. A little more restful at least with that idea of safety until he can be ready to leave the city. "The House of Ayaba is greatful to your kindness." He slowly exhales that in that moment of trying to relax, or at least close eyes to helpfully forget some of the pain he might be in.
The scene on arrival are ladies Joana and Arabella near a man on the ground that has recently been stabbed. They've seen to his wounds and he is recovering, as much as could be, from nearly dying at the hands of another.

*

Soon enough, Alvise sweeps into the room through the double doors, already saying, "Ha ha! Let the celebratio… Oh." His mouth having continued on for several additional words as his eyes were taking in information, he lowers his arms that were raised dramatically wide for his entrance and clears his throat. "Well, obviously, I assumed something entirely different. What do you need me to do?" He walks closer.

*

Joana tries to go into her shell a bit when her other cousins arrive, but she did just heal the man so she inclines her head respectfully enough to Alvise and clarifies: "He is injured and requires sanctuary a night before he flees the city. I assume yet another guest for the palazzo isn't too much to handle," she explains.

*

Arabella watches as Alvise arrives and she does give him an apologetic look, "I owe you some drinks after this, Avise, I will buy you some at a more appropriate time, I give you my word." She gets back to her feet and wipes her hands on a cloth again, but the blood has dried mostly. "Could you assist us in getting him back, as our cousin suggested? She has given him aid, but he needs to rest." Leaving it completely to Alvise how to get him over. The page did return with the nobleman, so he could also be of assistance.

*

The injured man is nodding his head, "I am thankful to you, Signoras and Signore." He adopts the local terminology for ladies and gentleman. He's versed enough to show some etiquette locally. He starts to try and move, but its clear he'll need just a little bit of help to get up and move about with the wound so fresh. If he tries to hard himself, he could aggrevate the wound entirely as well. So Banu takes care to move delicatley as he tries his best to get moving.

*

"Oh, of course," Alvise says in general. "I did not mean to imply anything other than mere surprise," he continues specifically to Arabella. He does quickly add, smiling, "But I know that you pride yourself on being a woman of your word and so, must accept." When the man begins to move, Alvise tries to convince him to remain still for a bit longer. "Please," he says, holding both hands up in gesture, "It may be for the best to wait a few minutes longer so we can obtain use of a cart rather than try to walk you through the streets. If you indeed still have some enemy or enemies about, they will not find it so easy to press in upon you under cover of the crowd that way, and it may be easier on your wound as well."

*

Joana tries to guide Banu as much as she can as the man stands. "Aye, a cart or a litter, though the former will indeed attract less attention." She turns to the man. "I can try and tend to you when we return, but I am only a novice in anatomy. I think we should call for a proper physician, too."

*

"Good idea, a cart." Arabella looks to the page again, "Fetch a cart please." The inn owner offers the one he has out back, as long as it's returned, and agreement is given. "We can take him to the door then, I can cover him with my cloak and we will take him home." With it all settled then, she gives a nod to Joana and an encouraging look to the injured man, but she stays back, she would be of little help lifting him with her diminutive size.

*

Following the motion of Alvise, Banu stays on lying for the moment, quiet as he tries to recoop and rest. The inn keeper nods and moves to have the cart brought out front. The sooner this is off his hands, the better business will be. Sure some concern for the man, but also for his business. Maekes the agreement all the more ready to get it. Banu, the injured man, does nod to Joana, "Understood. Anything more you give to me is a blessing." He was expecting a little rest and then off in the morning once his crew was ready of course. If they can tend to him a little more before he is on the open water, that would be better from his view point.

*

"All right then," Alvise agrees. When the cart is around front, he moves in to be ready to help the man to his feet. Moving as slowly as they surely will, there should be plenty of time and room for others to comport themselves as they will, helping or staying out of the way to the side. "When you are ready, Signore."

*

Arabella does remain back for the most part, unless it looks like anyone is struggling, then she'd step in and try to lend a hand. Barring that though, she goes with them out to the cart and glances around for that familiar face of the man who had stabbed this one. "As soon as he is settled in," she tells her brother and cousin softly, "You can cover him with the cloak and we will get him home."

*

"I am ready," the man returns, and goes with the group. The cart was a good idea, for getting him there and through the city unnoticed, a little work to pull but otherwise a good plan. The Wyvern Compnay city guard are more active once they leave the Inn. A few gathered nearby, to go in and question more about what was seen, but otherwise busy on the streets. As if they are searching to stop the man. Perhaps someone identified him better, perhaps he was not apprehended by the initial guard. Or, they are looking for other individuals now more actively with this news from the Inn today. Banu makes it safely to the Sabastino home to get some more rest before he leaves the city.
